Recently, North Korean authorities ordered a search for the distributors and sellers of a South Korean film 71-Into the Fire, due to its widespread popularity amongst North Koreans.

According to Radio Free Asia, 71- Into the Fire is based on a true story of the Korean War and spread rapidly in Chongjin, North Hamkyung Province. Due to the films popularity, the North Korean judiciary is focusing its efforts on finding the distributor of this movie. One source in North Korea told Radio Free Asia via phone interview that the majority of CD sellers in North Korea were taken to the National Security Agency and were investigated. The sources said that there are still many illegal distributors and sellers who have yet to be released from detention house.

Another source in Chongjin said that many North Koreans have already watched the film. The source also added that since this movie is based on a true story, many people were shocked by its contents. North Korean people were touched that so many South Korean people were also concerned about their nation, which is completely contrary to what North Korean authorities propagated.
