In an effort to seemingly expand the scope of those entering a university in North Korea, Kim Jong Eun has ordered that fewer children of party members be admitted.

In particular, elite universities in Pyongyang have been the target of these measures. The universities have had limits placed on them for how many children of party members they can take in.

The attempts to broaden university access are to increase the view of Kim Jong Eun as a man of the people, according to a Daily NK source. The source also said that the orders were given in order to fulfill Kim's pledge to make the country a technologically and scientifically powerful state.

Prior to these measures, only children of the elite could be expected to gain admittance to universities as those with any black marks on their family records were routinely denied.
