President Park Geun-hye called on the international legal community to pay more attention to North Koreas grave human rights record, in a luncheon meeting with about ten international judges and scholars. During the meeting there were also calls to bring North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to justice for alleged Crimes against Humanity, according to Younhap News.

Parks comments come due to the efforts of the United Nations to improve the human rights situation in North Korea.

The Commission on injury, set up by the UNs 22nd session without proceeding to vote, said in a COI report that North Korean leaders and institutions are responsible for Systematic, widespread and gross human-rights violations. The COI also urged the Security Council to refer the situation in North Korea to the International Criminal Court.

Event though North Korea has denounced the COI report as a fabrication, the UN Human Rights Council adopted a resolution recommending the UN Security Council to refer the situation in North Korea to the appropriate international criminal justice mechanism.
