Kaesong Workers Sent Far and Wide

The 53,000 North Korean former workers of the Kaesong Industrial Complex have been reassigned to a wide range of alternative workplaces, according to a recent news article by the Daily NK.

The workers have been dispatched to factories, enterprises, and cooperative farms. Furthermore, they have been forced to attend
lectures and study sessions for more than two hours a day. These sessions are designed to eradicate the "capitalist ideas" the workers picked up while working in the Kaesong Industrial Complex and to remind them of Party policy.

The Kaesong Industrial Complex was operated as a
collaborative economic development between North and South Korea. North Korea recently withdrew its workers from the Complex amidst war provocations. When it did so, it effectively shut down all activities. It is unclear when or if the Complex will be reopened.
