Military mobilisations due to the tensions on the Korean peninsula are causing certain elements of industry to grind to a halt, according to a Daily NK source.

A source from Chongjin told the online newspaper that the only factories in proper operation are those that make things for the military. This rush to produce military wares is having an impact on those who work in other factories as they are not receiving food rations.

In some factories, only part of the operation focuses on creating things for the military. As a result, those not working on the factory lines which make things for the military are being mobilised through military drills.
